When the SEW reducer has lubricating oil emulsification phenomenon and is caused by moisture intrusion, it can be solved from the two aspects of cause investigation and treatment plan, as follows:
Cause check
Seals aging or damaged: The reducer is running for a long time, and seals such as oil seal O-rings will gradually age and harden, lose elasticity, and cracks and damage, causing external moisture to enter the inside of the reducer.
Respirator blockage or failure: The function of the respirator is to balance the pressure inside and outside the reducer. If the respirator is blocked by dust and impurities, or it is damaged and failed, when the temperature inside the reducer changes, it is impossible to breathe normally, which easily forms negative pressure, sucking the humid air from the outside, which leads to the accumulation of moisture.
Leakage at the welding or bonding surface of the box: During the manufacturing process of the reducer box, there may be defects such as sand hole pores at the welding site, or after long-term use, the sealant on the bonding surface of the box aging and cracking, giving the opportunity for moisture to penetrate.
The equipment operating environment is humid: If the reducer is in a high humidity environment, such as open-air wet basement, the moisture can easily enter the equipment through various gaps.
Cooling system failure: If the reducer is equipped with a cooling system, if the cooling water pipe is broken and loose, it will cause the cooling water to leak into the lubricating oil.
Processing plan
Replace lubricant: Stop the equipment immediately, put out all the emulsified lubricant and use appropriate cleaning agent to thoroughly clean the inside of the reducer. Special gearbox cleaning agent can be used to operate according to the instructions to ensure that the remaining emulsified oil and impurities inside are fully removed and cleaned. Inject new lubricant that meets the requirements of the SEW reducer. Pay attention to the accurate model specifications and filling amount of the lubricant.
Repair or replace seals: comprehensively check the seals of the reducer. For aging and damaged seals, replace them with high-quality seals of the same specifications and when installing seals, ensure that the installation position is correct to avoid twisting and deforming the seal. At the same time, apply an appropriate amount of sealant to the seal surface to enhance the sealing effect.
Clean or replace the respirator: Check the respirator. If it is found to be blocked, use compressed air to blow out the dust and impurities inside to restore smoothness. If the respirator is seriously damaged and cannot be repaired, replace it with a new respirator and choose a respirator with good waterproof and dustproof performance, such as a respirator with desiccant to prevent the entry of external humid air.
Check and repair the leakage of the box: carefully check the welding and bonding surface of the box. After the leakage point is found, for smaller sand holes, repairs can be made by welding. After the welding is repaired, polish the welding parts to ensure that the surface is flat and the sealant is reapplied on the bonding surface of the box, and the bolts are evenly tightened to ensure that the bonding surface is well sealed.
Improve the operating environment: If the operating environment of the equipment is humid, measures such as adding protective covers and dehumidification equipment can be taken to reduce the environmental humidity. Place desiccant around the reducer, replace it regularly to absorb moisture in the surrounding air.
Maintain the cooling system: If there is a cooling system failure, check the cooling water pipe, replace the broken water pipe, tighten the loose joints to conduct pressure testing on the cooling system, ensure that there is no water leakage, and then put it back into use.
