To determine whether there is axial movement in the RX67-2.54-5.5KW-M1-0° reducer, you can combine 'direct measurement' and 'indirect observation' methods. The former is precise and quantitative, and the latter is rapid and qualitative, covering scenarios with or without professional tools.
Tool preparation : dial indicator (accuracy 0.01mm), magnetic watch stand, cleaning cloth, wrench.
Operation steps :
Stop the machine and cut off the power, wait for the reducer to cool down completely (thermal expansion and contraction will affect the measurement accuracy), and clean the oil dirt and iron filings at the end of the output shaft/input shaft.
Attach the magnetic meter base to the flat surface of the reducer case (make sure the meter base is not loose and serve as a fixed reference), adjust the dial indicator head so that it is vertically aligned with the center of the end face of the shaft, and the meter head is pre-compressed by 1-2mm (to ensure the measurement stroke).
Gently push the gear shaft back and forth along the axial direction with your hand, and observe the maximum swing range of the dial indicator pointer. This value is the axial movement amount.
Judgment criteria : If the value is >0.15mm (refer to the precision grade reducer standard), it is confirmed that there is excessive axial movement; if it is within the range of 0.05-0.15mm, further observation needs to be combined with the operating status.
Normal state: The operating noise of the reducer is uniform, dominated by the smooth 'buzzing' sound of gear meshing, and the decibel value is usually ≤80dB.
Movement characteristics: There is a 'clunking' impact sound (the shaft movement causes the gear tooth surface to hit the gear tooth surface), or a high-frequency sharp noise (the bearing produces abnormal friction due to the movement), and the noise becomes significantly larger as the load increases.
Normal state: When you touch the reducer case (non-motor end) with your hand, you can only feel slight and uniform radial vibration, and there is no obvious axial 'spurring'.
Movement characteristics: 'back and forth shaking' along the axial direction can be clearly felt, or the axial vibration amplitude far exceeds the radial vibration, and some locations (such as the bearing end cover) feel numb to the touch.
Auxiliary tools: Use a portable vibration meter to detect the axial vibration speed. If it is >4.5mm/s, there is a high probability of axial movement.
Oil seal leakage: 'Irregular oil leakage' (non-uniform oil leakage) appears at the shaft end oil seal, and the oil traces are 'strip-shaped' (shaft movement causes uneven wear of the oil seal lip and seal failure).
Lubricating oil contamination: Observe the oil during regular oil changes. If there are many metal debris (wear products of shafts and bearings) in the oil, and the debris is mostly 'flaky' (sliding friction and wear caused by movement), you need to be alert to the movement problem.
After stopping the machine, remove the observation hole cover and shine a flashlight on the gear meshing surface. If you find 'local wear marks' on the tooth surface (non-uniform full tooth surface wear) or 'scratches' on the inside of the bearing end cover (shaft movement causes friction between the bearing outer ring and the end cover), it can help confirm movement.
