Appearance inspection: Open the inspection hole or end cover of the reducer and directly observe the gear surface. Check whether there are obvious cracks, broken teeth, peeling, etc.; pay attention to the changes in the color of the tooth surface, such as whether it discolors due to overheating, whether there are signs of oxidation or rust; touch the tooth surface with your hands to feel whether it is smooth. If there is a feeling of roughness and unevenness, it may be severely worn. Pay special attention to the roots of the tooth, the top of the tooth and the indexing circle area, which are the places where wear is prone to occur.
Dimension measurement: Use a gear vernier caliper to measure the thickness of the chord teeth at the indexing circle. Compared with the original design dimensions or standard values, generally when the gear chord teeth thickness wears more than 0.5m (m is the gear module), replacement of the gear should be considered. You can also check whether the tooth shape is complete, whether there is deformation or distortion by measuring the tooth pitch, and determine whether the tooth surface wear is uniform and whether there is local serious wear.
Sound detection: Monitor the reducer when it is running. If abnormal noise, knocking or whistling sound is made, it may be caused by wear or damage to the gear. If periodic impact sound occurs, it may be that there is a problem with individual teeth; continuous abnormal noise may be that the tooth surface is worn seriously, resulting in a decrease in meshing accuracy.
Vibration analysis: Use vibration sensors to measure the vibration of the reducer and analyze characteristic parameters such as the frequency and amplitude of the vibration signal. When gear wears, the medium and high-frequency components in the vibration spectrum will usually be enhanced, and the more severe the wear, the more obvious the high-frequency components. By comparing with the vibration data during normal operation, the wear status of the gear can be determined.
Lubricating oil analysis: Regularly collect oil samples from reducer engines, and through professional oil analysis equipment, we can detect the content, viscosity, moisture, impurities, etc. in the oil. If the content of metal particles increases, it indicates that the wear of the gear or other components is intensified; changes in the viscosity of the oil, mixing moisture or impurities will also affect the lubrication effect of the gear, and indirectly lead to gear wear.
Torque and speed monitoring: Monitor the input and output torque and speed of the reducer. Any abnormal changes may be related to the wear of the gears. If the load remains unchanged, the input torque increases and the output speed decreases, which may be caused by the wear of the gears, which will reduce the transmission efficiency.
