BWE3922-493 The cycloid pin wheel reducer is a large transmission ratio and medium-heavy load model (493 is the transmission ratio and the output torque is large). The output shaft needs to bear radial/axial load, torque transmission and possible impact or friction for a long time. The material selection must be fully matched with the core requirements of the working conditions (such as load strength, operating frequency, environmental conditions, and life goals) to avoid 'too strong material leads to waste of costs' or 'insufficient material leads to early failure'. The following are the specific operating condition matching logic and selection methods:
Load strength : 'Light load/medium load/heavy load'? Is there an instantaneous overload (such as start-up impact, material jamming)?
Light load: Actual output torque ≤ 50% of the rated torque;
Medium load: Actual output torque 50%-80% rated torque;
Heavy load: Actual output torque ≥80% rated torque, or frequent overloads of more than 1.2 times.
Operation mode : Is it 'intermittent operation' (such as running ≤8 hours a day, starting and stopping ≤10 times/day) or 'continuous operation' (24 hours uninterrupted, frequent start and stopping)?
Environmental conditions : Are there special environments such as corrosion (such as moisture, chemical media), dust (such as mines, building materials), high temperature (such as drying equipment) and other special environments?
2. Match the output shaft material according to 'working condition type': recommended by scene
Scenario 1: Light load + intermittent operation + normal environment (no corrosion/dust)
Typical applications : small conveyor lines, light mixing equipment (such as small ingredients mixing in the food industry), intermittent lifting devices (such as warehouse small lifts).
Core requirements : meet basic strength, control costs, and eliminate long-term high load resistance to fatigue/wear resistance.
Recommended material : 45 steel (temperature treatment)
Material characteristics: Medium carbon structural steel, hardness after tempering is 187-229HBW, tensile strength ≥600MPa, balanced comprehensive mechanical properties, good machining ability, and lowest cost.
Matching reason: Under light load + intermittent operation, the bearings are subjected to small alternating loads and slow wear speed. The strength and toughness of 45 steel are sufficient to resist failure, and can control the procurement cost of the whole machine, with the highest cost-effectiveness.
Note: The wear of the journal (fitting the bearing/seal) needs to be checked regularly (such as every 6 months) to avoid seal failure and oil leakage due to long-term slight wear.
Scenario 2: Medium overload + continuous operation + normal environment
Typical applications : medium-sized conveyor belts (such as stone conveyors in building materials factories), medium-sized mixing tanks (such as paint mixing), fan/water pumps (24 hours continuous operation).
Core requirements : Strong fatigue resistance (to deal with long-term alternating loads), good surface wear resistance (reduces friction loss of bearings/seals), taking into account both cost and life.
Recommended material : 40Cr (temperature + surface quenching)
Material characteristics: alloy structural steel (including Cr elements), hardenability is better than 45 steel; after tempering, core hardness is 220-250HBW (good toughness and impact resistance), surface quenching hardness is 50-55HRC (wear resistance is increased by more than 30%), tensile strength is ≥700MPa, fatigue resistance is 20%-30% higher than 45 steel.
Matching reasons: Under the medium heavy load + continuous operation conditions of BWE3922-493, the shaft is prone to fatigue cracks due to 'long-term alternating loads', or the journal wear caused by 'high frequency contact of bearings'; the core toughness of 40Cr can resist impact, the high surface hardness can reduce wear, and can stably support the whole machine to operate continuously for 8-12 years, and the cost is only 15%-20% higher than that of 45 steel, with the best cost performance.
Note: The depth of the surface quenching layer must be controlled at 0.8-1.2mm (it is easy to wear if it is too shallow, and it is easy to crack if it is too deep). During processing, the journal roundness must be ensured to be ≤0.01mm (reduce bearing abnormal noise and additional losses).
