The center distance of the DBY type hardened bevel cylindrical gear reducer is selected not through free calculation, but based on the design requirements and from the standard specifications of this series of reducers Selection.
The center distance is a core specification parameter of the reducer. The center distance of the DBY series reducer has been standardized.
1. DBY series standard center distance specifications
There are 12 specifications of DBY reducer, and their nominal center distances (referring to the center distance of the final cylindrical gear) are:
160, 180, 200, 224, 250, 280, 315, 355, 400, 450, 500, 560 mm
2. Detailed Selection steps
The detailed steps for selecting the appropriate center distance are as follows:
1. Determine basic design parameters
First of all, it is necessary to clarify the specific working conditions and requirements of the reducer application and collect the following key parameters:
Input power (P): The motor power that drives the reducer, in kilowatts (kW).
Input speed (n₁): The rated speed of the motor, in revolutions per minute (r/min).
Overall transmission ratio (i): Calculated based on the required output speed of the working machine, i.e. i = n₁ / n₂. The DBY series usually has several nominal transmission ratios to choose from, such as 8, 10, 11.2, 12.5, and 14.
Working conditions: Including daily working hours, load characteristics (such as smooth, medium impact or strong impact), expected service life and working environment.
2. Calculate the required torque
Based on the known input power and input speed, calculate the input torque (T₁) that the reducer needs to withstand. This is the core basis of Selection.
Calculation formula: T₁ = 9550 × P / n₁ (Unit: N·m)
3. Initial selection of center distance specifications
This is the most critical step. You need to combine the calculated input torque (T₁) and the overall transmission ratio (i), and consider the working conditions (such as impact loads requiring a larger safety margin), to consult the product Selection samples or technical parameter tables provided by the reducer manufacturer.
In the sample, reducers with different center distances have corresponding rated input torque or rated power under different transmission ratios and input speeds.
You need to choose a size that ensures its rated input torque is greater than your calculated actual input torque (T₁), with a certain safety margin. The center distance corresponding to this specification is the center distance you initially selected.
