The noise levels of hard-tooth surface reducers and soft-tooth surface reducers cannot be generalized. There are differences between traditional ordinary models and technologically optimized models. However, based on conventional working conditions and mainstream product characteristics, the overall noise of standard hard-tooth surface reducers is lower and more stable. The noise of soft-tooth surface reducers is relatively high and prone to noise. The specific comparison is as follows:
1. Differences in core noise under normal operating conditions: The noise of hard-tooth surface reducers is generally lower and more stable, with a normal range of 60-75dB; the noise of soft-tooth surface reducers is relatively high, with a normal range of 70-85dB, and is easily accompanied by cluttered noise.
2. The reason for the low noise of the hard-tooth surface reducer: the gear adopts hardening treatment such as carburizing and quenching, and is equipped with high-precision finishing such as gear grinding. The tooth shape has high precision, the surface is smooth (roughness Ra≤0.8μm), the contact is uniform during meshing, and the impact is small. The noise frequency is concentrated at the gear meshing frequency and its harmonics. There is no obvious noise. The noise of some precision models can be as low as 60-67dB.
3. Reasons for the high noise of soft-tooth surface reducers: gears are mostly processed by ordinary cutting without hardening and high-precision finishing processes. The tooth surface roughness is large (Ra ≥ 3.2 μm). The strong material toughness causes the tooth surface to be easily deformed during operation, and the meshing contact is unstable. The noise frequency is widely distributed, often accompanied by high-frequency whistling. When the load increases or the speed increases, the noise is likely to further increase.
4. Noise performance of specially optimized models: Optimized soft tooth surface reducers (such as using tooth profile modification, high damping materials or non-metallic coatings), the noise can be reduced to below 65dB, close to the level of ordinary hard tooth surfaces; special hard tooth surface reducers for heavy-duty scenarios (such as adding sound insulation boxes and damping rings), the noise can be controlled below 70dB, adapting to industrial scenes with high silent requirements.
5. Noise changes under fluctuating working conditions: The noise fluctuations of hard-toothed reducers under high-speed and heavy-load conditions are small and only increase slightly; when the working conditions of soft-toothed reducers are switched (such as from light load to medium to heavy load), the noise may rise sharply by 5-10dB, and tooth surface wear after long-term operation will further amplify the noise fluctuations.
