During the operation of the noodle grinder, it is normal for the reducer housing to be slightly warm. However, if the temperature continues to rise or even becomes hot to the touch, attention must be paid to it. Generally speaking, it is within the normal range for the shell temperature to exceed the ambient temperature by 30°C. Once it exceeds 80°C, the cause needs to be investigated. If it exceeds 90°C, the machine should be shut down immediately. Otherwise, it is easy to cause serious consequences such as gear sintering and bearing damage.
The root cause of the high temperature of the reducer first points to the lubrication system. Lubricating oil is the "blood" of the internal gears and bearings of the reducer. Once something goes wrong, the temperature will quickly get out of control. If the oil level is too low, the gears and bearings are in a state of dry friction, and metal and metal collide directly to generate heat; if the oil level is too high, the resistance generated by the gears churning the oil becomes an additional heat source; and after long-term use, the lubricating oil oxidizes and deteriorates, mixed with metal debris and dust impurities, and both the lubrication and heat dissipation capabilities fail, which will also cause the body to heat up rapidly. Therefore, in daily use, you should develop the habit of regularly checking the oil level mirror to ensure that the liquid level is between the upper and lower scales, and replace genuine special gear oil according to the cycle in the equipment manual.
Secondly, overload operation is the most common cause of high temperature in farmers’ actual operations. In order to speed up production and improve efficiency, many users are accustomed to filling the feed inlet and letting the noodle grinding machine operate at full load or even overload. In this case, the reducer is subjected to a torque exceeding the design value for a long time, the internal stress of the transmission components increases sharply, and the heat accumulates rapidly but has no time to dissipate. The correct approach is to control the actual load between 80% and 90% of the rated power, leaving a safety margin, feeding materials at a constant speed, and operating stably, so that the efficiency will be more durable and reliable.
Poor cooling conditions are also a core factor that is easily overlooked. The dust concentration in the flour grinding operation environment is extremely high, and the heat dissipation fins on the reducer housing will soon be covered with layers of flour dust and oil dirt, which is equivalent to wrapping the equipment with a layer of "insulation layer", and the heat can only enter but not escape. In addition, in order to save space, some users place the device close to the wall or into a corner, which blocks the surrounding air circulation and further worsens the heat dissipation effect. It is recommended to use an air gun or brush to clean the surface of the casing after each operation. Leave at least 30 cm of ventilation and maintenance space around the equipment to allow heat to be dissipated smoothly.
If the above three basic problems are eliminated and the reducer still continues to be hot, the possibility of internal mechanical failure needs to be considered. Pitting corrosion, chipping or severe wear of gears, broken bearing balls, jammed raceways, or misalignment of the transmission coaxiality between the motor and reducer will lead to a sharp increase in operating resistance and local temperature spikes. This kind of problem is usually accompanied by abnormal noise and vibration. The machine should be disassembled and inspected in time, damaged parts should be replaced and the transmission gap should be recalibrated to fundamentally eliminate the hidden danger of high temperature.
In daily use, it is recommended to install a temperature sensor for the reducer and set a reasonable alarm threshold to achieve early detection and early processing to avoid greater equipment losses caused by small losses.
