Screw conveyors are mostly used to transport powder and granular materials. The working conditions are dusty and the load is uneven. They are equipment prone to reducer failures. Blockage, large load fluctuations, and dust intrusion will cause abnormal noise, oil leakage, and jamming of the reducer. Inventory of the 5 most common types of screw conveyor reducer failures, with quick troubleshooting solutions.

1. The reducer makes abnormal noise and vibration. Most of them are caused by gear wear, bearing damage or installation deviation. Long-term dust entering the interior will aggravate gear wear, increase the gap and cause abnormal noise. Solution: Stop the machine to clean the internal dust, check the wear of gears and bearings, replace any damage in time, recalibrate the installation level, and fix the fastening bolts.

2. Oil leakage problem. The screw machine frequently vibrates during operation, which can easily lead to oil seal aging, loose bolts, clogged breather valves, and oil leakage. If there is slight oil leakage, tighten the bolts and replace the breather valve. If there is serious oil leakage, replace the oil seal directly. Check the status of the seal regularly to avoid oil shortage and wear.

3. Insufficient power and stuck transportation. The core reason is that the speed ratio of the reducer is too small, the torque is insufficient, or the gear slips due to long-term overload operation. Solution: Replace with a large speed ratio reducer, reduce the amount of material fed at a time, avoid material blockage and overload, and regularly clean the accumulated material inside the screw machine.

4. The body temperature is too high. Continuous heavy-load operation, deterioration of lubricating oil, too much or too little oil will all lead to high temperature and burning. Special lubricating oil needs to be replaced in time, and the oil volume should be adjusted to the standard scale. A heat dissipation device can be installed under high-temperature conditions to avoid high-temperature burning of internal parts.

5. The reducer is stuck and cannot rotate. Most of them are caused by severe material blockage, gear chipping, and bearing lockup. It is strictly forbidden to force the machine to start. The blockage needs to be thoroughly cleaned, dismantling and inspecting internal accessories, replacing damaged gears and bearings, and troubleshooting overloading problems to avoid secondary damage.
