Different Types of Gear Reducers

The gearbox type of the reducer can be divided into straight line type and correct angle type.

Inline gearboxes usually consist of helical gears, spur gears, harmonic generators or planetary gears.Among these types, planetary gear reducers can provide the highest nominal torque in a compact design.Harmonic generator or cycloid mechanism types can also provide relatively high speed reduction ratios.As for spur and helical gears, they can operate with similar efficiency to the other inline gearboxes mentioned here, but they are a more economical solution.

For various applications, direct angle gearboxes are also widely used.Many manufacturers of right angle gear reducers offer enclosed drive reducers made of bevel or worm gears.When it comes to bevel gears, the geared type is remarkably efficient but has a reduction ratio limit of around 6:1.Within limits, bevel gearboxes are efficient and reliable.On the other hand, the worm gear type consists of a screw in the form of a screw meshing with the worm gear, which is called a worm screw and worm gear arrangement.Worm gearboxes are also now a popular right angle reducer as they are the most economical solution for many applications.This product has a minimum throttling ratio reduction of 5:1.
