Natural heat dissipation: Rely on the surface area of ​​the gearbox shell to exchange heat with the surrounding air to dissipate heat. This method is simple, low-cost, but has limited heat dissipation effect. It is suitable for gearboxes with small power and low heat generation. To improve natural heat dissipation effect, heat dissipation ribs are usually designed in the gearbox housing to increase the heat dissipation area.

Fan heat dissipation: Install a fan on the gearbox, and force the air to flow through the fan, taking away the heat from the surface of the gearbox. The fan can be a separate electric fan or a centrifugal fan connected to the gear box shaft, which drives the fan to rotate by the rotation of the gear box. Fan heat dissipation is better than natural heat dissipation, which can effectively reduce the oil temperature of the gearbox. Suitable for medium power gearboxes, it is more common in some outdoor installed gearboxes.

Cooler heat dissipation: For gearboxes with high power and high heat generation, coolers are usually used to dissipate heat. Coolers are divided into air-cooled and water-cooled. The air-cooled cooler forces air to flow through the cooling fins of the cooler through the fan, taking away the heat from the lubricant; the water-cooled cooler uses circulating water to cool the lubricant, which has better heat dissipation effect. The cooler can be installed outside the gearbox or integrated inside the gearbox.

Circulating oil heat dissipation: Combined with the pressure circulation lubrication system, the lubricant oil passes through the cooler or radiator during the circulation process, taking away the heat generated by the gearbox. This method can effectively control the oil temperature and ensure that the gearbox operates within the appropriate temperature range. At the same time, the circulating oil can also take away impurities caused by wear of gears and bearings, which can serve as a cleaning and protection effect. Widely used in various large and heavy-duty industrial gearboxes.
